Friday’s Event Recap by Jenny

It was a super awesome event! And I’m not just saying it just to say it.
I think we were all VERY pleased with how this event turned out.
We got to meet ALOT of new faces and put a few faces to names.

And its starting to sink in, that I am an industry celebrity, hahaha!
Just kidding. Im really shy, so its weird to have people recognize me.
But its ok, because everyone is really friendly. So I enjoy meeting new faces.

I have uploaded a few videos to our YouTube channel of the event.
You can find it here: http://www.youtube.com/user/JRacensteinCo

You’ll get to meet Tom Erdman of Kat Klean Windows as he tries out a 27ft CLX pole.

Did you guys see this picture on Facebook that was posted Thursday?

Funny right?! He did end up buying one on Friday. Very nice guy.

Got to meet Paul Shouse in person finally.
He’s super funny. Heres a video of him demoing the IPC Screen Washer

You know who’s even funnier? Kraig Dyer. He had me laughing real good most of the event.
He has my kind of humor. Sarcastic. I love it. He’s now going to think I get chocolate wasted every weekend. :))

And of course, its always nice to see Shawn.

If you guys want to check out more pictures, just go to our friend page on facebook to check them out: https://www.facebook.com/JRacensteinCo

You’ll find this picture there, I took them out to a Korean BBQ restaurant.

And for those that didn’t make it to this event, plan around the next one. Even if its not hosted by MWCoA or JRC, there’s always plenty to learn.

And for those that I did not name, it was nice to see you all here too! It was a pleasure to see everyone.

Have a great day everyone!

Window Washing Is A Surprising 6-Figure Salary

Window washing came up on CNNNews.com’s article “Surprise 6-Figure Salaries

Here’s one guys Testimonial:

Window WasherName: Alexander Tzamburakis
Job: Window washer
Salary: $125,000
Age: 35
Hometown: Chicago, Ill.

I moved to the United States from Tanzania on a scholarship to the University of Chicago. I studied economics and did really well, so I worked in banking for a while when I finished school. But then my visa expired and I couldn’t get it extended. No one would hire me — it didn’t matter how capable I was.

So one day, I was walking around the city trying to think of jobs I might be able to do, and I saw windows all over the place — and I said `That’s it! I’ll be a window washer.’ So that’s what I did. It doesn’t matter if you have visa, as long as you have a Social Security number and pay taxes.

I now work as a contractor and bid on window-washing jobs. Most of them are at grocery stores, and some are at car part stores. The summer is the busiest time, and I work around 16 hours a day. It’s tiring, but I’m happy with the salary. It lets me support my family.

AJ LopataAJ Lopata is a window cleaner who started his business in 1989. He was working for a company with an older window cleaner who had some side jobs and was convinced to pick up some side jobs of his own. So he did and soon he had enough jobs to quit working for that company and start his own business. His company now specializes in Commercial High Rise.

He recently attended the IWCA Safety Seminar is Pittsburgh because hes been a member since 1991 and was happy to support them in his home town. He brought 6 employees with him for safety training and wanted them to learn and live that safety begins with each person. That the importance of a written plan of service and inspection of equipment is critical in this industry.

When comparing the cost of the training to the value to what was learned, it was worth every penny! He thinks the water-fed pole is the best new thing in the industry to him although, his favorite is the 18in Brass Squeegee. For all the new guys getting into the business, his advice is to first work for a residential or commercial company, get educated then start your own business and join the IWCA.
