How To: Properly Scrub & Rinse a Window w/ Water-fed Poles

Get up to the top and thoroughly scrub and clean the frames and knock out cobwebs, etc. Then drop to the bottom and clean a 3rd of the way up wetting the window and giving it some agitation and giving a few seconds for the top area to drip out. Then go back up and stay about 2-3 inches from the top of the window to not push any more water into the glass then finish out the window with an S rinse.

Solar Panel Cleaning with Ionic System

Here’s a nice video from Ionic Systems. You can watch them set up the QuattRO RO/DI purification system and the Glyder waterfed pole from start to finish. They offer a time lapse comparison of how pure water dries compares to unfiltered tap water. As you can see, you can use a waterfed pole system on a lift to reach higher areas such as the solar panels on top of the roof.

Steps:

1. Wash the solar panels from top to bottom. The dirt will be dissolved and the impurities will be absorbed into the pure water. Make sure the frames are scrubbed as well.

2. Once the dirt is dissolved thoroughly, you may begin rinsing. In a zig zag motion down the panel, rinse the panels clean. If done thoroughly, only the pure water will remain and it will dry spot free.

Regular cleaning of the solar panels will increase output, especially in areas prone to dust or pollution. Many manufacturers recommend routine cleaning of the panels at around every 6-8 weeks. There are also some manufacturers who say, no maintenance is needed because the rain will clean them naturally. But there are many regions of the world where it does not rain at all! And that’s when a routine cleaning is an ideal add-on service for you.

A Tip From Gardiner: Restoring Pole Sections on WFP

Alex from Gardiner Pole Systems shows you how to restore pole sections on your water fed pole that have suffered wear and tear near the clamping area.

Event Recap – RHG Waterfed Extravaganza – July 13, 2012

An event for window cleaners hosted at RHG Headquarters in Castle Rock, Co. Kevin Dubrosky discussed how to market your pure water system to your clients, George Flynn from OSHA talked about how to identify risk factors while on the job, Shawn Gavin from RHG Products Co featured his product line of water purification systems and waterfed poles and Steve Blyth of J.Racenstein offered advice on how to tackle tough to remove objects off glass while using a waterfed pole.

Many Colorado resident window cleaners attended this event and many flew in as well. We had window cleaners flying in from Oregon, Tennessee, Florida.. others who drove in from Arizona and Missouri. There are probably much more other states to name… oh yea! Kevin Dubrowsky flew in from Canada!

For those who were unable to attend, you really missed out. Not just the fantastic marketing advice offered by Kevin or the insight presented by an OSHA rep, the mexican food for lunch, the tips and tricks taught by Steve but the networking and ability to be able to get hands on with equipment and speak with others who have used the same systems. Did we mention, Colorado is a beautiful state! So those who made this event a mini-vacation, really made it worth wild.

Anywho – Keep an eye out for more events and SAVE THESE DATES!

July 27-29 : WCN Annual Networking Picnic in Oconomowoc, WI

August 24-26 : Marketing Bootcamp in Greensburg, IN

Waterfed Pole Saves Life!

Window Cleaners posing with Gardiner water fed pole

Picture credit goes to Jonathan Gawthorpe Click Picture for original story.

Did you ever think that a tool of the window cleaning trade such as a waterfed pole can help save someone’s life? Well Neil Caden, 46, and Ferdinand Henriques, 41, a pair of heroic window cleaners did just that. While cleaning windows at a Cafe in the UK, they spotted 2 guys hanging around the edge of the water. One guy jumped in and swam in one direction then a few moments later, the 2nd guy jumped in, but this guy immediately ran into difficulties as he was not a strong swimmer.  Without hesitation, Ferdinand jumped into the water while Neil pulls them in with the waterfed pole. Fortunately the drowning victim’s injury were not life threatening and these pair of window cleaners went back the next day, to finish cleaning up the cafe’s windows.

NanoUltra Stain Remover Demo

In this video, Mike Draper will show you how effective NanoUltra is at removing Hard Water Stains on a hydrophobic window. You can tell if a piece of glass is hydrophobic, if you find that water beads off when it hits it. Using a Woolit Blue Sponge or a white scrub pad, you apply the paste to the glass and scrub in a circular motion. The NanoUltra will turn the state of glass into hydrophyllic which is ideal for waterfed pole work as it allows the water to sheet off the glass giving a better rinse. The video shows him rinsing the glass off with a waterfed pole, but if you don’t own one yet, you can simply squeegee clean the window as you normally would.
