Water Fed Pole Techniques
We recently gave ourselves a fun assignment; create a water-fed pole video with Joshua Corey of Window Maven in Marina Del Rey. We showed up with our normal camera gear and Cameron's GoPro video camera. As you will see it wasn't the most challenging glass (it's one of Josh's monthly accounts), but the setting and footage are well worth a look.

We are proud and excited with what we created. We mounted the GoPro several different ways on the pole and on another pole right next to it; we also took advantage of the Reach Around from Reach Higher Ground. It was a little breezy out and so the audio is not 100%, but we think the message still comes across loud and clear.

Please take a look and let us know what you think.

Please feel free to forward this along to your friends in the industry.

Jenny,
Very nice! I enjoyed the video shot from a seperate pole more than video recorded with the camera on the same pole as the brush.

Best Regards
Mike

RE: Water Fed Pole Techniques
Lovely clear video and great scenery - wish I was there.

Worth noting (for technique purposes) that for the first half of the video the WFP operator is using the brush at the incorrect angle which means that only the bottom two rows of bristles are working on the glass - this will make the job much slower and less efficient. The operator needs to stand further back to cure this or adjust the angle of the gooseneck down a few notches.

For large glass windows like this a Dual-Trim brush would also clean more efficiently than the single trim brush that is used here. This will allow the outer bristles to splay out well and allow the shorter inner bristles to make full contact with the glass. A correctly angled Dual-Trim brush would have allowed about 4-5 times the bristle area to come into contact with the glass on this job. This would, in the real world, equate to a much faster job with more efficient scrubbing action.
