TDS Mystery. Need Help Solving This One
I am running an Ionic System that is near time to recycle the DI cartridges. The output is running at 3 TDS. But I checked the water coming it the end of the pole at the brush head and I'm getting a TDS reading of 13!
What gives? What could be causing this and what is a workable solution? Inquiring minds would like to know. Thanks for any help. |

I also us the Ionic system and have had different readings at the end of the brush. Two factors that I have noticed can cause this. First, the most common reason is a dirty brush head. I you are not careful with the sample taking, you might contaminate it. This is especially true if you have a hogs hair brush. The other factor to consider is a fluctuating TDS inlet, meaning that sometimes, depending on the location (and how long your pure water line is) the tap water does not always flow at the same TDS. This would be especially noticeable of you are milking the DI cartridge to the last drop. A sudden spike in TDS coul give you a momentary high reading. Anyway, that is what I have experienced thus far here in California, where we typically have high TDS. By the way, For the record, I love my Ionic system!!! I am going to get a fourth cartridge to help slow down the DI burn. I have gotten ALOT of DI out I this system! I would easily say that it has paid for itself in water cost alone! P.S. try rotating your DI filter from time to time. It helps keep from too much linear settling. |

It could be getting a contamination from the hose. You should either do a real thorough cleaning of the hose or probably replace the hose.
