Why Do Some Systems Have a Sediment Filter?

H2Pro: Why do some systems have a sediment filter?

A lot of systems have a sediment filter prior to their carbon filter. This is done in an attempt to try to remove large contaminants before it reaches the carbon filter. Technically, a carbon filter is also a sediment filter. It's not going to allow large contaminants to go through. Since both the sediment filter and the carbon filter are really performing the same task, a lot of people steer away from a sediment filter.
