Softwash Instructions
Equipment:
Hose End Sprayer
Get a couple of clear bottles so you can fill one while the other is spraying
A bottle of Sticky
https://www.jracenstein.com/p/protool-sticky/83-07m/83-058/
Used for Dosing
Then some areas (typically less than 10% for mold only) will require agitation
You may have a need to agitate your cleaned area for other surface debris like bird droppings
Bleach
Go get at least 10% Pool Bleach available locally at Lowes, Leslies pool supply, etc
Notes:
-
Your clothing will spot from the beach so wear stuff that you don't care about.
-
Don't spray the solution so heavy that is will runoff onto other surfaces or unwanted areas,
-
Spray just enough to gain coverage and soak but not run off into unintended areas
-
Spraying twice in a contained manner is better that a bunch of unused chemical running off.
-
Bleach will discolor and/or kill grass, plants, etc so no overspray or allow runoff on to vegetation
Mixing
use the Dosing Syringe or Pour an ounce of sticky in the clear bottle, then fill the pottle with the pool bleach
-
The Sprayer has three settings, Clean, Off and Rinse
-
The Clean setting has foaming action to promote coverage the Sticky surfactant helps with that too.
-
Spray the affected area
-
For large areas and stairs, siding etc.
-
We recommend working your way uphill with the spray.
-
start from the bottom up so that you can manage the run-off the best.
The point of the sprayer is to mix on demand and then spread the mixture out with the foaming action
so it is easier to avoid runoff and use less solution
There are two videos of the sprayer in action though it is Shine Up spraying cars it is representative of the spraying action...
Coverage will be at least a 1 car garage/ 1 car parking space per bottle,
often more depending on the amount of the mold, per bottle.
Let the solution dwell for a bit, reapply as needed, let the chems do the work..
Rinse with garden hose, copious amounts of water, don't let the bleach mix dry on surface
Note:
Spray adjacent greenery with water before this task
and again after this task (twice) after to wash any possible overspray way.
Do this in 49 degree or warmer weather, and less than 90 degrees.
As a casual user I would not apply above when it is perhaps 80 degrees out
1 Gallon of Bleach is two bottles worth
Lowes sells the pool beach in 2 gallon boxes
Laundry Bleach will not be strong enough
Note: for Vehicles, Boats, Siding, smooth surfaces, painted surfaces...
After Cleaning we recommend spraying siding, vehicles, boats, with ProTool Shine up to rince off the bleach and stop the bleaching process
This will be easier to apply and go farther.
When done rinse with water.
